Raymund R. David, MD
Dr. David has 17 years of experience as a child neurologist, taking care of children and young adults with complex neurologic conditions including difficult to control epilepsy, complicated headaches, demyelinating diseases, movement disorders and neuromuscular conditions. He has practiced at Valley Children’s Hospital for the past 13 years.
He is excited to start his own practice here in Bakersfield, California. At Valley Children’s, he was the director of Neuromuscular Medicine and the Muscular Dystrophy Association clinic for the past 12 years. He and his team were instrumental in providing the first gene therapy in the hospital and the central valley for the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
Dr. David is a clinical assistant professor of Pediatrics at the UCSF School of Medicine Fresno and has been involved in teaching pediatric residents and medical students. He has mentored several high school students in the central valley who were interested in pursuing a career in the medical field ,through The Doctors Academy Program of UCSF.
Prior to joining Valley Children’s, he was the Director of Pediatric neurology at the Avera Childrens Specialty Clinic in Sioux Falls ,South Dakota.
Dr. David is board certified in Neurology with special qualification in Child neurology as well as in Epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines with the grade of ”Benemeritus ”in his final oral exam.
He did his internship and residency in Pediatrics at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine program at Elmhurst Hospital Center in New York. He completed his Pediatric Neurology training at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Program at Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
In his spare time, Dr David enjoys playing basketball, biking, traveling and kickboxing.
